Over the past couple of weeks, I've been preparing my home network for Windows Home Server. Part of this preparation means an upgrade to Gigabit Ethernet.
My home network has always been running at 100 megabit, which is normally more than fast enough, but with the prospect of storing almost everything I have on a WHS box, as well as having frequent network backups running, and potentially streaming media to my Xbox 360, I figured gigabit's time has come.
I finally hooked up a couple new gigabit switches today and couldn't resist a quick speed test. Considering the theoretical max transfer rate is about 16 MB/sec, getting a bit over 10 MB/sec is fine with me. :)
